Study trip – from Finland to Greece!

From 27 to 30 September 2025, the EU·COTTON promotional campaign organized a four-day study trip in Nafpaktos and Messolonghi, two key regions of Western Greece known for European Sustainable Cotton production. The Finnish delegation included Johannes Roviomaa, journalist specializing in climate change, equality and sustainability, Heidi Piiroinen, photojournalist, and Miia Koski, PR expert in the fashion sector. During the visit, participants explored the practices of sustainable cotton cultivation, gaining valuable insights into its environmental and social benefits. They visited cotton fields, ginning mills and spinning units that prioritize sustainability, while also engaging directly with farmers and professionals across the entire cotton value chain. Highlights of the study trip included interviews with cotton growers in the field and detailed visits to ginning and spinning facilities, offering a closer look at Europe’s commitment to sustainable cotton production.
